"In my experience, I knew what I wanted for my sons’ bedroom. I had seen a bedroom of ‘inspiration’ at a cavalcade of homes, picked up a business card and called Ken. Being an artist of sorts myself, I drew up some quick sketches of my ideas ~ and met Ken for the first time. We sat in my living room and put our ideas together, on paper. It was like he just completely understood what I was looking for ~ as I described it ~ he sketched it out. I did not feel the need to meet with any other muralists’. I had already viewed his work ~ and now felt confident that he knew exactly how I wanted the room to look… Ken came in for two or three days and worked his magic! This was approximately six (?) years ago…and I am still in awe each time I enter the room. Everyone who sees the room from children to adult just love it. My older son was 14 when we had this done for his younger brother ~ and he offered to ‘switch’ bedrooms immediately! :) Thank you Ken for sharing your talents with me and my family. I promise you that you will get the call for my next creative project. My daughter is 13 and thinking she’d like to update her room. You may be hearing from me very soon! “We always knew that we wanted a playroom for our son, Charlie. One that would be as creative and expressive as a little boy's imagination -- someplace where he could explore and expand his creativity. And, since we had seen Ken's work before, there was no question that he was the right guy to create this one-of-a kind, safari atmosphere.
What was more daunting was the very personal, detailed mural in our dining room of the Czech Republic, which was created as a surprise for my husband. Ken listened to the whole story behind the room and managed to bring to life the gorgeous countryside, the family cottage in Tynec, the town Church that stood those many centuries overlooking an every-changing political landscape, the denuded, once Grand Palace, and the neighboring city of Klatovy. Ken captured not only the realism of this beautiful country, but the beauty and strength of familial ties and of bonds that may change, but are never broken, through the passage of time. Ken took the time to understand the importance of the project. Every time we step into the room, it is as if we are standing in a valley in the Czech Republic right between Tynec and Klatovy and it transports us back to the country and people that are a part of my husband and my son's heritage.
I'd recommend Ken for virtually any project -- residential or commercial. Ken does beautiful renditions for children's rooms, there's no question about that. But we were absolutely bowled over (my husband in tears) at Ken's attention to detail and rendition of the Czech Republic in the dining room. The playroom and the dining room are so completely different, but each was done expertly. What was most impressive was that he really listened to what you had to say and converted it into a visual reality.”
